STAR RATINGS GUIDE

Great Beginning, Great End

THE BIRDICT

šŸ’› A plague, one that kills children, the survivors having powers and being sent to camps. Utter brilliance and I thought this started off well. I liked main character Ruby and I was intrigued.

šŸ’š Then it got a bit lost. We go here and there and end up in one place that doesnā€™t seem to have a point for far too longā€¦ At no point was it bad, but I definitely drifted off at times.

šŸ’œ To (badly) paraphrase The Godfather, just when I thought I was out, it pulled me back in. The ending struck a chord.

šŸ’— Thereā€™s a definite Hunger Games vibe to this YA adventure in the kids v adults sense. Main character, Ruby also has that guarded Katniss quality.

SQUAWKING THE TALK

šŸŽ§ This works well as an audiobook. The narration was appropriately teenagery and easy on the ears. Itā€™s also easy to pick up and put down.
