STAR RATINGS GUIDE
Love pandemic thrillers? This hits all the right notes.
THE BIRDICT
The hero, the sudden devastating pandemic, the international community that won't listen. Oh it is all there. It's a scarily prescient telling of the world's woeful reluctance to act and incompetence in the face of a pandemic.
It's incredibly well researched (and I say that with absolutely zero medical background!) . So although a lot of this book is formulaic I've forgiven it in the star rating because of my love of this genre and the fact that I enjoyed this overall.
Should I read the sequel? Undecided.
SQUAWKING THE TALK
Mark Bramhall's voice is made for a thriller. Think Jack Bauer of 24 racing to save the world. This works against him when portraying female characters. He differentiates well, but still doesn't quite get the tones right.
