STAR RATINGS GUIDE

A thoroughly enjoyable performance

THE BIRDICT

šŸ§” I love all things different and this was definitely it. As someone whoā€™s read about a bazillion version of the apocalypse, this was a new one. The world hasnā€™t so much ended as run out of steam. Very interesting.

Big thanks to NetGalley and Bolinda Audio for providing me with an ALC in return for an honest review.

SQUAWKING THE TALK

šŸŽ§ Eva Seymourā€™s narration managed glib without being flat. Which is quite the achievement. Her performance elevates the whole experience, making me smile throughout.

THE BLURB

ALICE: 30-something, IQ of 159 (almost a genius), only communicates with her mother in Morse code. Her imaginary friend is back.

ERIKA: 15, daughter of hot ā€˜wealthugeeā€™ who loves Russian literature, genuine genius, killer eyeliner and killer instincts.

The climate is in crisis and wealthy immigrants are flocking to New Zealand for shelter, stealing land, driving up food prices and taking over. But Alice has far more important things to worry about: hating her best friendā€™s husband, getting free wine and quiet-quitting her dull day job. Until she meets Erika.

Now, Alice is about to find herself drawn into action of the most radical ā€“ and dangerous ā€“ kind. Just what is a slacker to do?
