STAR RATINGS GUIDE
More Twists and Turns than a Curly Wurly
THE BIRDICT
💛 There is so much deception in this story that I think at one point I was upside down and didn’t know it. Which is to say this is a fantastic mind-bend of a domestic thriller. And it’s clever. Yes, it does require some rather fantastical suspension of disbelief. But I bought into the characters and they stayed authentic so I was 100% in.
SQUAWKING THE TALK
🎧 Julia Whelan is one of my very favourite narrators and while not her best performance, it was good. I’d have liked a bit more animation. I keep thinking maybe there was some sort of artistic decision to keep her voice very level? Unsure. But it’s not hard to follow and doesn’t detract from the story.

One teeeeny critique. Vanessa would ne-ver have gone to Emma’s flat that first time: Cue me yelling “it’s a trap!
Gone Girl. It’s like Gone Girl. There. I said it.

The Wife Between Us
THE BLURB
When you listen to this book, you will make many assumptions.
It's about a jealous wife, obsessed with her replacement.
It's about a younger woman set to marry the man she loves.
The first wife seems like a disaster; her replacement is the perfect woman.
You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships.
You will be wrong.
